Different Types Of Braces - Setting Your Teeth Right

Disposition of teeth is one of the most common dental problems. One of the best and the most effective ways to treat this is with the help of braces. Dental braces help correct any misalignment of the teeth that can lead to problems while talking, eating or functioning on an everyday basis.

The braces set the positioning of the teeth right. There are different types of braces that are available in the market. Since buying braces is quite an investment it is good to be informed about the different kinds of braces to be able to select the right one.

Some of the widely used braces are:

Traditional braces - These are the ones that have been in use for many years. This is often used mostly by children. These braces generally comprise a small bracket that is stuck to the front part of every tooth. A band positioned in the molars provides support. Composed of wires and metals these put pressure on the teeth in order to push them in the right direction.

These are durable and are available in different materials including ceramic, gold and metal. There are also many colorful and decorated braces that are available. You can select from the many designs that are there.

Brackets - These comprise thin wires that are wound around the teeth and linked to the braces that cover the lower as well as the upper jaw. There are metal, plastic and ceramics brackets that are available.

Ligual braces - These are being used a lot these days. They have become very popular as in this type the braces are stuck at the back of the teeth instead of at the front. This prevents the braces from being seen. These are affordable and are mostly used on adult patients. These are ideal for people who do not want others to see their braces.

Invisalign - This is especially for adults and teenagers who have mild orthodontic problem. These are removable and can be adjusted at an interval of every two weeks or so. They are removable and thus do not pose a problem while eating or brushing.

Ceramic braces - These use purely composite material that do not have any metallic ingredients. These generally cost more and do not have as much "pull/push" force as the metal braces. One advantage is that these can be tinted to match the color of the teeth and are barely noticeable.

Inman aligner - These are also referred to as 'speed braces'. These actually push the teeth into alignment much faster and are also cheaper than the traditional braces. These take only a few weeks to set the teeth right and are best for people who require minor alignment work.

While selecting orthodontic braces it is imperative you consult your dentist and seek his/her help in selecting the right one for you.
