The "core" of Balance
I invite you to stand up and balance on your right leg! Now your left… Easy isn’t it? Now try doing the same thing with your eyes closed. Whoa! What a weird feeling, right?
There is a lot more to balance than standing on one leg or leaning over to pick up something off the floor from one leg. Did you know that every time you balance on a single leg, your primary stabilizing muscles are located not on your legs, but rather your core?
Oh so I do abdominal crunches every day, so I’m definitely working my core, aren’t I? Well yes and no. Allow me to explain.
Your “six-pack muscles” and your obliques comprise the brunt of your core, but the gluteus muscles, hip movers, lats, and your inner back stabilizers play an important role in keeping your body intact and upright.
If only one of these muscles is imbalanced, everyday function will begin to deteriorate with every movement. Sound a little crazy? Try this, next time you are in a public place, stop and look around you and observe the way people walk. See how many people are walking with their feet out to the side, or with their shoulders hunched over, or their lower backs sunken in. I’m not saying to judge anyone, maybe you have an imbalance. Maybe I have one…
There are many movement assessments, muscle tests, and gait analysis methods that are performed to determine the exact nature of an imbalance and its affect on your posture.
Balance is an easy and key indicator for muscle imbalances and/or core dysfunction. So try it yourself or ask your friends and family to give it a shot.
If you are having problems balancing or experience strange pain with specific movements, contact a corrective exercise specialist in your area for a thorough assessment.
Remember, the path of pain is rarely a straight and narrow course, just like your road to achieving your goals. If addressed and defined thoroughly success is right around the corner.

Answer:
Balanced funds are usually pretty diversified. However, if you decide to get into some other investments, don't sell any of the balance fund shares (current holdings). Just direct new monies into the new funds.
This way you aren't realizing any losses.
